The Effects of P. H. Aqua-acupuncture to Choksamni(ST36) and Pisu(BL20) on the Hyperthyroid Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to study the effect of aqua-acupuncture with Prunellae herba (P. H.) extract solution by acupuncture point, P. H. aqua-acupuncture was carried on every day for 5 days and 10 days respectively on the ocrresponding loci of Choksamni
(ST36),
Pisu
(BL20) and non-acupuncture points (loci at the root of tail), after inducing hyperthyroidism by sodium levothyroxine administration, and thereafter the contents of serum triiodothyronine (T3) thyroxine (T4), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and
total
cholesterol were measured in hyperthyroid rats.
@ES The following results have been obtained:
@EN 1) T3 was decreased with statistical significance by P. H. aqua-acupuncture for 5 days and 10 days to Choksamni (ST36) and non-acupuncture points as compared with the control group.
2) T4 was decreased with statistical significance by P. H. aqua-acpuncture for 5 days and 10 days to Choksamni (ST36) as compared with the control group.
3) TSH was increased with statistical significance by samni (ST36) Pisu (BL20) and non-acupuncture points respectively as compared with the control group.
4) Total cholesterol was increased with statistical significance by P. H. aqua-acupuncture for 5 days and 10 days to Choksamni (ST36), Pisu (BL20) and nonacupuncture points respectively as compared with the control group.
